I am so honored and excited that my first editorial shoot made the cover of Style Me Pretty! I did this fabulous shoot in May 2010 at the palatial Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island and it has been so hard not to share these photos until now. It is also hard to narrow down the ones to share, but I will do my best.
On such a cold winter day (almost 0 degrees!!!), it is so nice to think back to warm sunny spring nights when flowers were in bloom and trees had lush new green leaves. Last April 23rd, I had the pleasure to second shoot at the wedding of Desiree Cifre and Josh Waitzkin at the spectacular Brooklyn Botanic Garden for Kimberly Salem of Kimberly Salem Photography.
So here is the amazing setting for the ceremony. Isn’t it spectacular!!! Look at those Cherry trees just laden with blossoms. Desiree and Josh certainly timed things perfectly. Just breathtaking! It reminded me of the cherry blossom trees where I grew up in Mamaroneck, NY. I always loved it when they were in bloom. It is hard not to smile when you see mother nature’s display.
We really enjoy being able to support local charities. On April 8, 2010, David had the pleasure of photographing a charity gala organized by Gayle Alswanger, Director of Distinguished Giving for the American Cancer Society, Lower Fairfield County, CT Chapter. Welcome to American Cancer Society: Battle of the Chefs!
On May 11, 2010 David and I had the opportunity to go out to Farmingdale, NY to see Robert (Bobby) Schneider for a tour of Leather Craftsmen’s New York facility.
The last six weeks have been extremely busy, but I will attempt to catch up on some of the exciting happenings.
On Saturday, May 8th, I had my first opportunity to wear my new JCREW dress out in public. In fact, this was the night they had outfitted me for. My husband, David, along with the rest of our temple’s singing ensemble known as “Ruach” (means spirit) were being honored at Temple Sinai’s Starry Starry Night.
So, not only did I enjoy showing off my new look and getting a lot of fun reactions when people recognized the dress, but I was also photographing the event for the temple bulletin.
Alarm Clock?: Today started with a tiny bit of panic. My iPhone alarm was set for 5:25 am (5:45 am car to take me two blocks to the studio) & no wakeup call so Maya could sleep a little longer (David & Maya weren’t supposed to go to the studio until 7:30 am). Well, somehow my phone was set to the hearing impaired TTY mode, which flashes without sound! I had woken up a bunch of times during the night, checking the time on my iPhone each time, and the last time I remember checking was around 5 am. Unfortunately, flashing lights did not wake me at 5:30 am, but the call at 6:15 am from Kitt asking where I was sure did. I have never moved so fast! Luckily, I had all my clothes laid out, so I threw them on and ran out the door in around two minutes. I think I was at the studio by 6:20 am.
I went straight to the studio door, and Nicole told me that the audience waits out in the plaza. I explained that I was the mom for the makeover, and then she brought me straight downstairs to a conference room. I saw Kitt on a monitor as we went down a long hallway — I think it was the run-through, but no time to stop. Straight to hair and makeup! Continue reading and leave comments »
The car service picked me up to take me to The Plaza for the nuts and bolts of the makeover.
Kitt Grant, Producer of The Early Show met me in front of The Plaza to bring me up to The Warren Tricomi Salon on the second floor. Continue reading and leave comments »
So my day started with a car picking me up to take me to the city to shop! Mikhail, my driver, got me safely to JCREW Collections on Madison and 79th. I was greeted by the very warm Kitt Grant, producer CBS News – The Early Show. With her was a team to help get me all set with a new outfit.
The funny thing was when they saw my Boda camera bag they asked if they could use my Nikon D3s instead of their point and shoot for the before pictures.
Megan and Andrea from JCREW kept bringing me tons of outfits, shoes and accessories to try. We were also joined by Katrina Szish, a wonderful stylist with a ton of style to spare. Continue reading and leave comments »
Monday morning at 10 AM, Paige Kendig and cameraman Terence Nelson arrived at our home and studio in North Stamford with a ton of equipment to tape us. Paige interviewed all three of us (including Maya) — one at a time. They also taped us doing lots of everyday stuff.
David and I are thrilled to launch Crane Song Photography, our new Wedding Photography brand, here on our new website!!!
For us, this brand is a perfect fit — cranes mate for life and live up to 80 years. I think a lot of couples would be happy with those statistics! David and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary at the end of this month, and David’s parents are setting an awesome example for us having just celebrated their 69th anniversary!
